Hey, I’m Catie—and if you had told me back in 2015 that a cheap Black Friday camera would turn into all this, I’m not sure I would’ve believed you.

I started photography on a whim. I was looking for a creative project and something to learn just for fun, so I picked up a basic camera and started snapping photos of rocks and plants. It didn’t take long before I found myself drawn to people instead—their expressions, movement, relationships, and those beautiful, in-between moments that tell the real story. And somewhere along the way, I realized I wasn’t just learning a hobby—I was building something bigger.

These days, I photograph weddings, families, seniors, and all kinds of everyday magic through Catie K Photography. I also work with a wedding company called Complete Weddings and Events out of Sioux Falls, giving me the chance to collaborate with even more couples across the northeastern South Dakota region. I serve as the Executive Director of Choose Clark County, where I work on economic development, community projects, and events to help make this little corner of South Dakota even better. And from time to time, you’ll see my name in the Clark County Courier, writing stories when there’s something exciting happening around town.

It’s a full, busy, creative life—and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

At the end of the day, I’m all about connection. Whether I’m photographing a once-in-a-lifetime moment or helping someone settle into a new chapter of life in our community, I care deeply about making people feel seen, valued, and at home. I show up with a calm presence, a little bit of direction, and a whole lot of heart.
